Happy National Donut 🍩 Day!
.
I will not be celebrating today because donuts are not high on my list (someone let me know when it’s national cannoli day).
.
Enjoy the day or Donut (see what I did there).

It’s #NationalDoughnutDay and the old me

Well the one who saw food as “good” or “bad”. The one that gave individual foods soo much power over me.

The one who would create a narrative that it was impossible to just eat one doughnut.

I had to eat as many as I could to get it out of my system.

It was the same all or nothing mentality.

If I wasn’t “eating clean”, it was “cheating” and thus means that I might as well cheat hard and get it out of my system... Sound familiar? If this was or currently is you, don’t feel bad. You are not alone. I was right there with you.

But what changed everything for me?

When I stopped giving a doughnut (or frankly any food) so much power and saw it for what it truly was.

So when I eat a Doughnut:
1️⃣ I know a doughnut is mostly carbs and fats
2️⃣ I know that I have a choice to fit the do into my macros.
3️⃣ I know that the doughnut won’t leave me very full.
4️⃣ I know that the doughnut won’t provide me with much micronutrients (vitamins and minerals).
5️⃣ I know it won’t help with me reaching my fiber goals for the day.
6️⃣ I know that if I eat this doughnut all by itself and not right after a high protein meal, I’ll have a much stronger urge to overeat on this donut.

I could go on for days with points to add to that list.

But the moral of the story is, I will always be in favor of you having the power to have one doughnut and know that you could have another one tomorrow.

So enjoy this National Holiday! But only if you want to!

Don’t give into the social pressure of having to have a doughnut but it’s so called National Holiday.

That’s the beauty of all this. You have a choice 🙂
