I love the history of cocktails and especially love the pre Prohibition era. When cocktails were simple but elegant. Maybe two or three ingredients. I also love the old ingredients that you might not see so much these days.
Here’s a typical example an Auld Draper which uses 2 parts dry Gin, 1 part Byrrh and a few dashes of orange bitters. Byrrh is a wine based aperitif which is flavoured with Mistelle and Quinine To Thuir in south of FRANCE near #Perpignan 🇫🇷☀️. It was first produced in 1866 and trademarked in 1873.
Stir all ingredients together and serve over a single ice cube and with scorched orange peel. .
