You were a born firebreather.
Owning just a matchstick spark,
And an ache to start a blaze
That would give solace in the dark.
So you waited and you waited,
You begged wind to hold its breath,
For the barest of exhales
Could spell that flames most
certain death.
And did you plan to wait forever
Begging your flicker spark to catch?
Thinking that everything depends
Upon the frailty of that match?
For it is fine if that is true;
That you would leave it all to chance,
But you will likely never see
The way a cracking blaze can dance.
Because a spark forever shielded
Speaks of a life that’s much the same,
You cannot start your own
wild infernos.
If you don’t dare to risk your flame.
