I wanted to be real honest this morning with how I have been feeling. Maybe by being getting it off my chest, it will help to move past it and not dwell. I’ve been doing this page for over a year, I have tried more ways than I can count to try to help survivors of domestic abuse. Most of them have ended up in a zero. My most recent attempt was the Flowers for Turning Point, a domestic abuse shelter in metro Detroit. I promoted it for a month and a half. I had people say they would love to help. But only one person from Instagram donated flowers. There were an average of 50+ likes on each of my posts about it yet only ONE PERSON wanted to help by donating a bouquet of flowers. I watch my local news and cars are given to people because they don’t have cars, furniture is given to people for their homes because they don’t have furniture yet we can’t come together and make sure every mom has a bouquet of flowers when they are only $35 a piece. I cried ALL DAY Saturday. I mean all day because I was so sad and honestly felt “what am I doing?? Do people even really care about domestic abuse survivors?” I have been threatened with lawsuits by people, I have had people try to sabotage me but I have continued to work hard. I give so much of myself to help and I don’t ask for anything personally in return. I don’t have a car or a place of my own but everything I have I give to those who have less than me, some call me stupid and foolish for this but helping survivors of domestic abuse is more than important to me.
