“One really powerful thing that came out of my natural hair is the connection I feel to my ancestors and lineage. I write poetry, and I actually wrote a poem about it. There was this one line I loved about being able to feel my ancestors through my hair, it was, ‘Whenever my hair catches the wind, I close my eyes and stand still. I know that if I listen close enough I can hear the narratives of my people.’ I feel connected to them on a way deeper level now.” -Me
