Neutrino oscillation was first discovered at the Super Kamiokande neutrino detector two decades ago, but the nature of neutrino oscillation is still a mystery. New experiments hope to shed light on this strange property of neutrinos. The basic strategy for a neutrino oscillations experiment goes like this: you create a known amount of a flavor of neutrinos (like in a nuclear reactor or particle accelerator) and detect the amount you see further away when they have time to oscillate. This strategy is being used in the Deep Underground Neutrino Experiment (DUNE), where neutrinos are created at Fermilab and detected 800 miles away at the Sanford Lab in South Dakota.
