Last year around this time, a couple months into my fitness journey, I was doing kickboxing and lifting HEAVY 6-7 days a week 1-3 times a day 😬
That my friends is a prime example of overtraining...
I noticed a bump at the top of my abdomen but didn’t think anything of it because it didn’t hurt and I am a biological mess. That was the wrong move.

Fast forward to three weeks ago, I was doing abs with Jer (which I absolutely HATE training) and something didn’t feel right at all. So I stopped, went to the restroom because I felt like I was going to pass out and got sick 🤢 I knew it was time to see a professional so I set up a doctors appointment with my physician.

A couple days ago, after some poking and prodding, I was referred to a surgeon as I have an epigastric hernia (meaning I have a tear in the upper part of my abdominal wall in an area known as the epigastrium, which is above the navel and just below the breastbone. This is causing me to have a lump/bulge in my upper abdomen.)

At first, I was really bummed. But then I realized that that mindset would set me back. Not this surgery. I can continue to move forward if I focus on the lessons and positives. 
Lessons:
✨Don’t take your body for granted
✨Listen to your body
✨Your body DOES have limits
Positives:
✨I will grow from this
✨I’ve learned the lessons above
✨I will adjust and learn to live a healthy lifestyle without extensive physical activity for the next 8-12 weeks

This is a prime example that it’s not about what happens to you, it’s about how you react to what happens to you.
