Mi casa. My former house in the first floor, the owners of whom lived upstairs, a senior couple that have been married for 50 years. They used to live in the entire building but since I moved there, they had moved from the first floor and used it for people to rent. It was a very large room. The senior landlady was very nice. We could only communicate in Spanish though, and my Spanish wasn’t very good. One time she misunderstood me when I said I was attending a Quince anos party for a friend. She mistook this as my birthday. In the following week, she came downstairs from the second floor and knocked on my door. I opened the door, and there she was holding a box of cake, while I was dressed in a tuxedo. She sang Happy Birthday to me in English. I smiled at her and told her thank you, but I didn’t tell her it wasn’t really my birthday.
