“Why I’m No Longer Vegan,” is a hot topic right now, but it’s nothing new. The sad truth is - at least for now, statistically - that most people who go vegan, don’t stay vegan. I believe that will change in the near future, but at this moment in time it’s still a new concept for the majority of people. So it’s not surprising that a lot of the people who try going fully plant-based don’t know how to properly balance their nutrition. . .

When you’re coming from the S.A.D. just about any new diet you try will be a step-up, but everything only works as long as it does. If you switch from pizza & coke to salads & water, it makes sense that initially you’ll see a great improvement in your overall health. But after awhile, a bitch gets hungry. Or at least her brain does & then her vagina is unhappy. . .

Malnourishment is the result of a poor diet, or malabsorption due to medical reasons. NOT the vegan diet. I am not a doctor & I really do sympathize with people who have to deal with a serious illness, but I don’t believe anyone gets ill simply because they stopped eating meat. . .

Perhaps they had an underlying issue they were unaware of & accidentally aggravated by being extremely restrictive, or by consuming a food that doesn’t agree with them. It is certainly possible to make yourself sick by not meeting basic nutritional needs, or eating something you’re allergic to unbeknownst to you, but that doesn’t mean going vegan made you sick. . .

Also, fasting is not a diet. It’s not eating anything. So let’s not blame self-inflicted starvation on veganism either. . .

No one should feel bad about having needs more specific than what they thought they were. Some people develop deficiencies & sensitivities later in life. The good news is there are all types of ways to eat vegan. Basically, if the food you’re consuming doesn’t come from an animal, you’re doing it. So you’ve got plenty of options! . .

When I first went vegan I was super orthorexic. I was like that before I ever went vegan, but when I began going plant-based I wanted to be on the “perfect” vegan diet. All organic, lots of smoothies, etc. That approach may be sustainable for some people (continued below)
