Soooo...I turned 50 this year. No midlife crisis for me! Instead I wrote out a list of 50 life lessons Ive learned. Whether youre just starting out as a photographer or youve been running a successful business for years, these are things I wish knew when I started.⠀

Lets start with the first 10: ⠀
⠀
1. We all have haters. Let them go.⠀
2. When people try to get you to do free work for “exposure,” you might consider running naked down the street instead. You will get more exposure that way and you will get it over faster.⠀
⠀
3. You don’t need business cards and letterhead anymore.⠀
4. If you can get clients and thrill them enough that they buy from you at profitable prices, you can stay in business as long as you want. ⠀
5. Managing cash flow is a real thing. Pay attention to it.⠀
6. Always travel with extra phone chargers.⠀
7. Roller ball pens explode on airplanes 47% of the time. Hand-sanitizer is the best way to remove the ink from all over your hands.⠀
8. You can’t print too many photos.⠀
9. You can waste a LOT of money on advertising and get no results. You can also spend very little on marketing and get excellent results.⠀
10. Be early to pay your bills and people will be way more anxious to help you out in a jam.⠀
