This post terrifies me to share publicly. But I know also realize that me putting myself out there and being completely vulnerable will benefit so many. I want to share with you how I improved two of the things that matter most to me in life: my singing and my health.⁣
⁣
I suffered from debilitating tension headaches for years to the point that I was unable to workout regularly. Working upper body was a painful experience that could land me in bed for several days. I also had excess tension in my singing and couldn’t figure out how to loosen my neck at all, and I was holding a lot of tension in my chest.⁣
⁣
I went to physical therapists, massage therapists, chiropractors, took medication, and tried essential oils. Some things alleviated my symptoms for a bit, but nothing really got rid of the pain.⁣
⁣
The consensus of the medical professionals I saw was that the size of my chest was to blame.⁣
⁣
I contemplated surgery for years. Choosing to go under the knife is not an easy decision. But based on the severity of my condition, surgery seemed like the best option.⁣
⁣
So about a year ago, I walked into a plastic surgeon’s office and got a consultation for a breast reduction. He agreed it was medically necessary, and I had the surgery last June.⁣
⁣
I went in the morning of surgery with a horrible headache. I wanted to cry. ⁣
⁣
I have barely had a headache since I woke up. ⁣
⁣
Getting a breast reduction was the best decision I ever made for my health because it gave me my life back. ⁣
⁣
I can exercise without fear now. ⁣
⁣
My posture is exponentially better.⁣
⁣
My neck has less tension and my singing has improved. I no longer hold massive amounts of tension in my chest. ⁣
⁣
Surgery should always be a last resort, but sometimes it can be an answer to years of prayer. It certainly was for me. ⁣
⁣
It gave me back my life.⁣
⁣
