Iggy Azalea has released the first single off her upcoming album called ‘Sally Walker’ and I really do not care for it. She plays on the children’s rhyme Little Sally Walker in reference to her haters with a very obnoxious hook, I find her confidence/arrogance grating especially when the bars that follow are just so dull and lifeless. ‘Add that shit up like mathematics’... these bars are too weak to be delivered so confidently, also adding is mathematics it’s not LIKE mathematics... there’s no simile there, I’m probably overthinking it. The instrumental has been called out for being a rip off of Cardi B’s ‘Money’ as the heavy keys are reminiscent and do sound very similar to Cardi’s single. However keys like this have been used many times in ratchet twerk singles so if we are going to call out Iggy for not having a unique beat then we should call out everyone else as well... but that’s a slippery superfluous slope. The problem I have with Iggy’s music is I find she has the aura of being this bold and boisterous artist but she never seems to carry it well or have any sense of personality in her music that leaves these flat, uninspired and lacklustre singles that give no reason to revisit. This single is almost unbearable to me, but if you want to here children’s rhymes recited in an aggressive manor then maybe this ones for you. Rating: 3/10
