Yelawolf is back with a new single off of his upcoming album ‘Trunk Muzik 3’ called ‘Trunk Muzik Intro’ which is *spoiler alert* the intro to the project. This new song comes hot off his ‘beef’ with Post Malone, G Eazy & Machine Gun Kelly after he threw some bars at them in a recent freestyle and to be honest it’s hard to care about this beef. It’s just very random and doesn’t appear to have a solid foundation for it, I have no clue where it came from and when Post responded on twitter I officially checked out from giving this any attention. So Yelawolf comes in riding the wave of attention he has received and dropped a very mediocre single, I think Yela is seriously talented but as an intro this really feels flat. It’s instrumental has a very heavy distorted bass line and the usual Slumerican guitar riffs but some of the sound effect loops seem almost 64 bit. Yela’s rapping is solid with some slick bars delivered with his usual Alabama twang but it doesn’t have much weight to make me want to revisit the track, it just sounds like auto pilot Yela. I really liked his last album ‘Trial By Fire’ as he showed some genius level storytelling and descriptive raps like on ‘Shadows’ but I feel he is under performing here, maybe this intro would sound better when transitioning into the album but by itself it’s quite underwhelming. Check it out for yourself, Rating: 5/10
