As I scroll through all the international women’s day posts, I see a lot of celebration of women’s strength and power with images of warriors and super heroes, and tough talk about being a “badass”, or “boss bitch.”
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
I’m lucky and humbled to live in a time where women are beginning to be safe enough to show up in that way. We need to tap into our boldness and be more aggressive to make these changes happen, and it is definitely moving us forward.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
However, I’m cognizant that we have other strengths- soft skills. We’re typically skilled at intuiting, empathizing, cooperating, communicating. Some of these skills evolved for child rearing, but they also helped us survive when our physical power was no match for men’s, and there were no social systems in place to support us and keep us safe.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
Those women, our ancestors, were badasses too.
⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
As women gain more power and equality, I pray that we can begin to bring feminine energy back into balance on the planet. We may need to access our masculine side to move the needle on equality, but I’m dreaming of the day when we don’t need to live in it to command respect. When both men and women can access their feminine side without feeling weak or lesser. When compassion, tolerance, nurturing and cooperation are as highly revered as assertiveness, independence and dominance. ⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀⠀
THEN we will see some major healing happen; more peace, more harmony with mother earth, and more freedom for all. That is my wish.
