I went to Traditional Japanese restaurant yesterday with my husband and all food tasted so good and carefully made by the chef. When I was teen I can eat a lot(I can even eat five donuts as my snack before dinner and my mom often became mad at me 😑) but when you get older you can’t eat so much. I heard many foreign people said β€œquality is better in Japan but the portion is very small compared to US food. β€œ
Japanese find virtu to small, transient, and delicate things. That’s why many expensive restaurants in Kyoto always serve moderate portions of food and decorate plates carefully. I recently prefer to drink one good glass of wine than drinking three cheap glasses of wine because I know I’m becoming weak to alcohol. We have a lot of excess in our life for everything, food, materials, and information and it’s easy to take it for granted. When I eat food in Japanese restaurant somehow I can feel more appreciation to my meal even they are small portion. Being mindful and appreciative time are better quality of time than doing multiple things in the same amount of time. Quality is important in everything for me. I feel that last night when I was eating dinner with my husband. He looked very happy when he is eating delicious food. BUT He became hungry again after he came back to home and took a shower.
So I cooked Udon by making dashi carefully with Konbu and bonito flakes. He told me the udon soup taste so good as well as the traditional Japanese restaurant. So I felt happy to know he likes my Udon too 😊 May this day be peaceful day for you πŸ˜‡
