Nothing could make me prouder of my time volunteering in India than seeing the impact we are having on children from the slums and dumps who are now attending our KISES School and Care Centre in Vijayawada. I choose not to post distressing pictures of the children in their regular habitats, but focus instead on how happy they are attending school for the first time in their lives. Our healthcare and feeding programme is already beginning to show positive results in these great kids, who love getting dressed up in their school uniforms before throwing themselves into lessons with great enthusiasm. As word spreads, more children are being put forward to attend, so much so that we are now looking for land where we can build our own safe school and hostel to cater for larger numbers.
