Being a selfishness person creates a distance between you and so many good things. It makes it impossible to be there for others like you should. It naturally, hides the beauty of "companionship" from you. If all you care about is yourself and you give no room for others, you would end up alone in areas where you need shoulders to lean on.
Meanwhile, being selfish blinds your eyes to the beauty in others. you would hardly see why they care so much, you would just not understand because all you care about is yourself. This could make you hurt the people who love you over and over because you do not create space in your heart to care too much about their feelings.
The best way to be the best of who you can be as; a brother, a sister a husband, a wife, a doctor, a lawyer, a pastor, a good child, etc. Is to trim the level of selfishness in your heart.
