Let’s talk about empowerment. The fashion supply chain is a complex beast. Having complete transparency regarding the ethical treatment of garment workers is extremely difficult. But not impossible. It’s all about finding the right partners. You need to be able to identify suppliers in a supply chain that share your core values. If you don’t find those people that have the same passion that you need to be sustainable, traceable, and work for a better solution, you’re not going to be able to do it. And to be honest, even then, it won’t be easy. Change is not something that comes easy to organizations, people, or structures. But at the end of the day, it is up to us to empower eachother to be leaders, create relationships with people willing to join our movement, and build traceability. It’s time to stop hiding.
