Happy Imbolc!

Today marks the significant turning point towards spring.
In ancient times the Celts would celebrate the Goddess Brigid at this time, daughter of Dagda.
The Goddess of Healing, Poetry, Music, Agriculture, Fertility, and Smithcraft.
She is associated with light and fire.
She promises warmer, longer days. She brings us regeneration.
When she was born she had flames of light shooting out from her head and through them she connected with the cosmos.
Golden sparkling flames. The light đź’ˇ
She is associated with the sacred cows. She is said to bring in their milk for the starving that during the cold dark winter months many times went without food.
When Christianity swept 🧹 in and destroyed the sacred connection to the Earth, to the mother and to the divine feminine they created a story about St. Brigid to keep the masses from an uproar.
This was how sacred she was to so many in Ireland, Scotland and Western Europe.
So stories of her remain even though the connection to her and to this time of year are mostly lacking.
In Merica we decided to call this day “Groundhog Day” because it is better to give power to a groundhog than it is to give it to a feminine representation.
If you’d like to reconnect to this day:
-Light a candle -Get rid of some old things that you don’t need
-Clean and clear you spaces
- Have a fire 🔥 -Do some divination -Plant some bulbs or some seeds -Put our a bird feeder -Write our some intentions for this Spring/Summer.
Here is a few different fun incantations/affirmations: “Blessed be the Goddess of Creativity
Brighid, Bright One
Goddess of the forge.
Teach me to bear the fires
of transformation,
The furnace that tempers my blade
and makes me strong.
Be with me as I blaze my trail.” “Lady of the healing hands, uplift us.
Lady of the metal-working fires, regenerate us.
Lady of the Birth of Spring, bless us with abundance and peace.” “Brigid Lady of the Birthing Light, let your wisdom and levity seep deep into my cells, let me be brave, let me be faithful to the Earth, to the animals and to the beings that may not yet be as Enlightened as you have made me.”
