Breastfeeding was an uphill battle with Charlotte, and I felt ashamed and judged because it didn’t work out. It took time, but I was able to get over it and just be happy that she was healthy.
With Scout, I’ve been so grateful I’ve been able to nourish and soothe him with breastfeeding. However with nursing him practically whenever and wherever we are, that has brought along outside judgement as well.
Let me say this: Being a mom is a super human role. We wear many hats, we sacrifice, we are sleep deprived jugglers of life, and are the constant givers of anything and everything that is needed... all the time. So instead of judging a mom because she isn’t breastfeeding and is giving her baby formula, or because she is nursing her baby in public without a cover, how about we offer a smile, a nod, or a look of “mama you are killin it”! We should not be judged, nor made to feel ashamed for how we feed our child.
