You know where’s an amazing place to drink whisky? Singapore. Honestly, for such a small nation, the number of really, really high quality whisky bars is staggering. I mean for a start, you have theauldalliance, probably the most impressive whisky bar in the world…but you also have so many other fantastic small whisky bars specialising in something or other, dotted around the place.

When visiting Singapore recently for the @bruichladdich PC10 launch, I was most excited to visit @theswansongbar, which just celebrated its first birthday. Co-owned by long-time friends Arun (@kingblues) and Kelvin (@anziojoshkel), you’d be hard-pressed to find a nicer bunch of whisky-loving chaps (but then, this is Singapore, a place FULL of really nice whisky loving guys and girls). I first met Arun when he was managing the Auld Alliance, and we’d stayed in touch since, so I was very much looking forward to visiting his bar.

…and wow, it didn’t disappoint. @theswansongbar’s selection of old, rare and vintage drams has to be seen to be believed, but what really attracted me to the place was the atmosphere. Relaxed, open, and instantly a place you feel at home - as a whisky lover or novice. The fact that the owner of another fantastic Singapore bar (@thesinglecask_sg) was sitting at the bar as a customer said as much about the camaraderie and close-knit nature of the Singapore whisky scene, as it did the quality of the bar.

The other cool thing about the bar is @anziojoshkel’s collection of Ledaig, which numbers in the hundreds. I discovered (more than a few) Ledaig’s I never knew existed, including this absolutely delicious 20yo.
-
Not to mention the awesome Bowmore section. I mean, two Bicentenaries open? Really? How cool is that!?
-
Anyway, these were some of the drams I tried during my visit. The clear dumpy @glendronach 18 pictured here was one of the best GDs I’ve had, and the Bar Metro Strathisla was just stunning. -
I’ll tell you what, I can’t wait to go back to this bar again and again…
