Hell- The lie that made God Cruel! WHAT MANY BELIEVE “Immediately after death the souls of those who die in a state of mortal sin descend into hell, where they suffer the punishments of hell, ‘eternal fire.’” (Catechism of the Catholic Church) Some religious leaders say that hell is a state of complete isolation and separation from God. .... Some would argue that is illegal to torture people in detention, correct. Yet, that is what some proclaim God is doing by the Doctrine Hell. Deliberate torture is sickening and abhorrent. And yet, religion and individuals teach torture inflicted by God? Can you imagine such a thing? Yet, this is exactly what is implied by the teaching of hellfire, an official doctrine. . .... THOSE who teach that hell is a place of torment promote a gross misrepresentation of Yahweh and his qualities. Granted, the Bible does say that God will destroy the wicked. (2 Thessalonians 1:6-9) But torment - forever, this type of is not God’s dominant quality- Which is Love. Right doctrine should lead to right character .... The Doctrine Of Hell! This doctrine of eternal conscious -soul - torment seems to be at odds with becoming like Christ. Shouldn’t right doctrine interweave with right Christ like person ? quoting the great Church Father, St. Augustine: .... “Whoever, then, thinks that he understands the Holy Scriptures, or any part of them, but puts such an interpretation upon them as does not tend to build up this two-fold love of God and our neighbor, does not yet understand them as he ought.” .... Whenever we read and interpret the Bible, we should always be asking whether our interpretation increases our love for God and others. Is that a fair standard to work with. Does the doctrine or reading increase our love for God and neighbor? If one concludes that it does neither, and indeed does the opposite, we have a reason to reject it. Hell is a moral dilemma.
