“My name is Jasmine K. Brown. I am a Masters Student in the College of Forestry’s Forest Ecosystems and Society Program with a minor in Ethnic Studies. As a black female in forestry, I find myself considering the ways that race and gender shape one’s interactions with forests. As a Connecticut native, I was always fascinated with trees in urban spaces. My forestry career has allowed me to attend 3 different schools, work in 10 different states, and see numerous types of trees. As I continue to move forward in forestry, I am excited to #ChangeTheNarrative surrounding the ideals about who can be a forester. #MinorityForester 🌲#ForesterOfColor 🌳#ForestProud 🌿”
