When we rush I feel like we miss seeing all the sights along the journey. And the journey, as corny as it is, is what matters. When we use momentum and charge into things, I feel like there’s not only no control, but I’ve lost the awareness of every little movement on my way into the pose. This is 15 minutes of my morning practice sped up x6. I like to move slowly, to feel things. It’s also important for me to move slowly because when I move carelessly I often trigger muscle spasms in my neck - like throwing my hair up into a bun, and wham, trapped nerve and pain for hours. Since being hit by a motorbike 20 years ago, this happens every now and then. It’s why mindful movement is also self care for me. .
