Happy Birthday Jeff Parker – no it isn’t a family member call out but rather he is the author and the man behind the great idea but ultimately failed updated version of the Defenders of the Earth comic book series released in 2013 by Dynamite Entertainment (DE).⠀

To be fair to Jeff, the idea was bold and the first Kings Watch series was amazing and IMO the best Phantom comic series DE released. I loved the way he brought the many characters into the series and even the mysterious ‘impostor’ Phantom was a great intriguing touch. However, sadly it all went downhill from there when he left the series and left many a Phantom phan with a horrible after taste. I still await when someone gives the Defenders of the Earth concept another go and is faithful to all the characters involved.⠀
