Playing piano professionally since the early 1970’s has been a musical journey of joy. The New York music scene has drastically changed but, for those who appreciate the special experience of walking into a timeless place such as Bemelman’s Bar, there is a unique opportunity to absorb jazz music history and current styles
at its best in an intimate setting. .
When I first started playing there were so many clubs featuring jazz piano, Bradleys,
The Cookery, Sweet Basil, Jimmy Weston’s, The Knickabocker Cafe, and practically every major hotel:
The Sherry Netherlands, The Plaza, The St. Regis, plus countless small restaurants.
It was a different time when “live” music did not have to compete with all the other
foms of entertainment that we are now exposed to.

For those who love classic jazz piano, enjoy Bemelman’s Bar. It’s still the swankiest
place in town with great piano!
