Have you ever read the label on cosmetic products and wondered what the heck those ingredients are? And furthermore, if they’re safe for you?
I never thought much of this until other friends had posted about using safer cosmetic products and I learned that the European Union has banned roughly 1,400 chemicals from being used in cosmetics while the United States has banned 30. Yikes. (Source @beautycounter). I looked into the ingredients of my own cosmetics and learned that some of them had some not so great things in them such as parabens, sodium lauryl sulfate and “fragrance.” I decided once my face wash and moisturizer ran out that I would research products on @environmentalworkinggroup or @thinkdirty to find some alternatives with better ingredients. While there are LOTS of safer products out there, some of them cost an amount that I’m not ready to invest in yet.
@fitontheroad told me about the coconut oil and apple cider vinegar method she had been using so I looked into it on coconutsandkettlebells.com.
My results:
Less oily skin
Less blackheads/clogged pores
Less redness and a more even complexion on my nose and cheeks
The best part? I didn’t even have to buy new products because I already had these in my kitchen!
