For the last four years, I’ve been doing the infamous ‘tree farm minis’ while home in CT over thanksgiving weekend. I don’t advertise it, I only do four or five of them, and it’s almost always with the same handful of families. I love this tradition, it gives me an opportunity to create some beautiful memories with some beautiful people but it also brings me back to this gorgeous tree farm in New Hartford, CT. @holidayfarmct is a dream location for going and cutting down your tree. Perfectly nestled in a rolling valley in the hills of Burlington/New Hartford, Holiday Farm is family owned and run; father-son, wives, in-laws and kids all join in every weekend from thanksgiving on, helping everyone find the perfect tree to take home with them for the holidays. It always warms my heart so much to see them out front of their gorgeous white colonial with their table of hot chocolate and cookies, wreaths for sale, a little fire going, kids playing.. it is to me, the epitome of the holidays in little old Connecticut where I grew up and where we still spend every Christmas season. Tradition is extremely important to me, to my kids and family. One of the little details I always remark every year I go back is this beautiful wooden box of saws ready for people to go off on their perfect tree hunt. It’s all of these little details that make this holiday season so magical for me. If you haven’t gotten your tree yet, and you’re in that area you should definitely go check them out.
