As enacted, the law only provides for “pecuniary loss” or the loss of support to any dependent. Basically, in a situation where the deceased doesn’t support anyone (infants, elderly), the law in NY provides little relief to the families. NY is one of the only few remaining states that does not recognize the “intrinsic value” of human life.
