What’s aspiration?? When food or drink goes into the airway and can increase the chance of pneumonia. Thickened liquids move slower and are easier for the individual to control when compared to thin liquids. I like this brand of thickener as it is virtually tasteless (yes I have tried it!). This particular Pt trialed nectar thick liquids after being on honey thick (the thickest liquid consistency) and did well! No coughing, choking, or changes in vocal quality which are classic symptoms of aspiration!
