There’s a void in my soul in the shape of my mother. It will never be soothed. It aches even in her presence like on this current visit with her. I celebrate how far things have come and our time together but I grieve. Messy, never-ending grief. For myself as a child, for myself as a mother, & for all that she missed & lost. And oddly, I grieve also for who she was: wild, dreaming, and brilliant.
