My tiny new Willow having a break from the phototherapy lights when she was only days old.. She reminds me so much of a little baby monkey 🐒💕 I remember looking at her thinking how can someone so little and so new have gone through so much already. Noticing her tiny little hand, so bruised from all the needles, clinging onto me so tightly that I had to take a picture to remember this moment forever. I was told to stop feeding her because it would make the jaundice go away faster 🤦🏻♀️ the consultant seemed to get so caught up in ticking boxes that his common sense went out the window. Im so glad I said don’t be ridiculous to him and carried on feeding her. We’re now 8 weeks strong and she’s gone from 6lb 11 at her smallest to over 10lb 8! 🙌
I fed Willow in matalan yesterday, and while most people were polite and didn’t look or smiled when they did a few people looked at me with such disgust 🤦🏻♀️ probably didn’t help that I smiled extra happily at them 🤷🏻♀️ so I realised that while I’m comfortable feeding my baby wherever and whenever she’s hungry, I wasn’t happy to publicly post pictures of it. Which got me thinking that I’ve been affected by society’s conditioning that breasts are ok to be on show for money and profit but breastfeeding should be done as discreetly as possible if at all. So I’m stepping out of that comfort zone (which took 3 breastfed babies to get into!) and put up my favourite picture of me and willow. The more that breastfeeding is seen the more normal it becomes and I won’t have another 7 year old little girl who points at me asking her mum what I was doing she should know that this is how we’re designed to feed our babies 💕
