There are many stories as to how Chikankari was introduced in India, but the most popular one is that it was Noor Jehan, Wife of Mughal Emperor Jehangir who brought this beautiful craft to our land.
Though Chikankari began with white-on-white (and that’s still a personal favourite), we do have this wispy drape: a deep mango yellow with tri-coloured border in pink, blue and green and the Chikankari on the saree has been done using the pink and blue from this border. Light to drape and carry, the embroidery gives it elegance while the colours give it a festive appeal.
