![@x_christine has motivated me to write something about size, beauty and comparison (Go read her post on FB if you know her, it’s great). This picture was taken at the first “Miss” title I went after (in Christine’s post she wore green so I found my green photo too lol). I dieted, worked out...I worked for “that look” because I was certain that is what the judges were looking for. After the pageant, I realized that was the only thing I didn’t like about competing. I loved the girls I met. I loved having inside jokes and going to events with them. I loved volunteering. I love knowing my city better. I loved being on stage. I loved preforming. And I realized, it doesn’t matter if you are doing your absolute best and gave your absolute all...if that isn’t what the judges are looking for, it will not be your day to win. So the next pageants I did, I did it my way. I talked about my love for bacon and how it was my favorite dessert. I made jokes about going around the corner to buy a $1 burger because I was starving. I walked the stage not looking like the girl in this photo but happier and more vibrant version of her. “Just do you, boo boo.” Became my saying. I might not ever look like the girl in this picture again, but I don’t want to. I want to be better. Being myself. Doing what I wanted to do. Being true to who I was... that made the difference for me. I knew I might not look like the other girls and I did not give the same kind of answers as the other girls but I was my best and true to who I was. That is what made my experience better. Be the best version of YOURSELF, my loves. Forget what the judges or judgmental people think. This is your life and your stage. In the end, it was never between you and them. ☺️💗 [BTW: Yes, I realize I post this picture a lot. It’s my motivation picture ok. Lol.]
