The plantain leaves lend the fufu a taste that is to die for. 😋One thing I have refused to do from now on is eating vegetable fufu. No excuse me, I know cabbage fufu is a better alternative if you are trying to lose weight and I definitely encourage you to swap garri for that, that’s if you can and if you love it! By all means. But can I be real for a moment? That vegetable + psyllium husk combo taste like sh*t! Ex.....cuse me! 🤢
.
I no do again! Warris this? Wakanda punishment is this? I mean is not as if one cannot eat garri and still lose weight! Yes I know, garri is high in carbs but carbs is not the issue, that’s if you portion it right to suit your needs (sharing more on this in the next post stay tuned). .
And by the way, what’s your problem with carbs sef? God did not say “I am the cabbage of life”. Neither did he say “Give us this day our daily carrot”. Eh eh! He said “I am the BREAD of life”. Wetin be bread? Abi you cannot answer? Issit not carbohydrate? So if bread is carb, and garri is carb and bread is life, it means therefore that garri, or pounded yam or ripe plantain is also life nah!.
.
Now that I have made my point, can I just eat my eba and okra in peace? End of rant! .
Ps. I’ve got lots of healthy recipe for weight loss based on African food on my YouTube channel. Click the link on profile.

Chicken wings, how I love thee!
Recipe is on the blog: http://www.preciouscore.com/epic-oven-grilled-chicken-wings/⚠️ EMERGENCY CLASS⚠️ Gather round fam! Some of you have commented here and left messages requesting I addressed consuming garri on your weight loss journey! You asked if it is possible to eat Garri (among other African starchy carbs) and lose weight. The answer is THIS MISSION IS POSSIBLE and here is why;
.
I get that garri is extremely high in starchy carbohydrates and if you are overweight, heck obese like me, you want to make sure that you reduce your carb intake so that your body can access stored fat and start burning it for energy! .
As a general rule, if you eat fewer calories that you burn, you will lose weight all other factors being equal.
.
Starchy carbohydrates like our friend garri here are generally also high in calories and most of us eat way too many servings than our body really requires. Admit it, God is watching you 👀😂.
.
The other problem is most of us do not really know our caloric and nutrient requirements and like I always say, no two persons are the same so therefore each one of us have different caloric needs. This means therefore, that you need to calculate your daily caloric needs aka. Macros first to maintain your weight (that’s if your are in a healthy place right now) or to lose weight, if weight loss is your goal.
.
Same rule applies for your daily carb needs for weight loss. Now, it is recommended to consume around 180 - 200g of carbs daily or between 30 - 60g of carbs per meal 3 times a day if you are healthy or consume more depending on your age, weight and physical activity level. If weight loss is your goal, you are required to stick more towards the lower range that is below 60g but not lower than 30g per meal and you would lose weight.
.
Pictures are 4 ways to measure your eba (that’s after you’ve found out how many grams of carbs you need for weight loss). For me, it’s ~115g to lose 0,5kg a week. So I need about 1/3 cups or 50g of raw garri which when cooked with 150ml of water yields ~125g cooked. .
It’s the same amount that fits in my palms. Or when I cook a large quantity for the family, I simply use my cup above and scoop my portion. This portion is equivalent to 45,1g of carbs or 3 servings.Looking for a food hub that would satisfy your sweet cravings... #Barista #freakshake #vanilla #icecream #snacks #StanCoffee #tecnophantom8 #Tecnomobile #treat #instalike #stanleyphotoworks #milkshake #coconut #stanleymiki #chocolate #cameroonianblogger #cameroonianfoodYou asked, I listened. Sharing with you this meal plan for the moderately active (working out 3-4 times, 30mins) African. .
To lose weight on an African diet, you must know your food (calories and nutrient value), and watch your portions closely. No guess work here!
.
I believe the best way to sustainably lose weight is eating foods you enjoy in their right portions not starving or punishing yourself with foods you do not like.
.
This is a sample weight loss plan from my 30 days Shapeupafrican nutrition program. It might not work for you because it is not customized to suit your specific needs BUT, if you are looking for a plan that is delicious and healthy and you want to get an idea of how to eat healthy the African way, this may help. For customized meal plans, message me for a small fee. .
Take note, that the method (deep-frying, roasting, use of oil) you use to prepare your meals plays a role in how many calories you finally have on your plate. To learn how to cook healthy the African way, join my - #SUPALIGHTCOOKING online cooking class - waiting list by sending an Email to shapeupafrican@gmail.com.
.
Next 30-day session starts November 1st. To join send me a DM. You can find most recipes featured here on my website Shapeupafrican.com or on YouTube Shapeupafrican TV.

Assorted meats stew for a customer.. It has beef, goat, tripe, and cow foot... Also I used 100% fresh tomatoes, no paste
•
INGREDIENTS
.Tomatoes, Onion, canola oil, habanero, curry powder - just a teaspoon, salt, Maggie.. I blended red bell pepper, ginger, garlic, celery, basil, & parsley. ••• Step by step directions.
1• Cook all your meats, starting with the cow foot which takes the longest to get done. Season it with chopped onions, Maggie, salt, blended ginger/garlic and also habanero. After the cow foot has cooked for 25-30 minutes, add the tripe to it, and let both cook for 25 minutes. After the 25 minutes, add the goat into it.. and let it all cook for about 30 minutes.. You will not be cooking the beef with the meats since the beef isn’t tough.. 2• put a clean pot on the fire with canola oil it it, once the oil is hot, add some chopped onions to it. When the onions is frying, be blending your tomatoes. Once the onions has fried for like 3 minutes in the hot oil, add the blended tomatoes into it. Let it fry for about 10 minutes (don’t cover the pot).
3• Blend the other blended ingredients that I listed about and add it in to the sauce. Continue frying with the pot open.
4• Add the habanero, and curry.
5• Once it has fried to the point where you start seeing oil on top,
6• Add the cooked meats/ meat stock and the sliced raw beef into the pot. Then taste it and add your salt and Maggie to balance it, cause remember the meats were cooked with salt and Maggie.
7• Now close the pot and let it all cook together for another 15 minutes or so and boom!!! * Sorry guys, I don’t have the exact measurements for the salt and Maggie because it all depends on the quantity of stew that you’ll be making, but my advice for Maggie and salt is, always start with a small quantity then add on as you cook.
